Road trips are synonyms for freedom for me. No need to book accommodation in advance, we can decide on the spot if we want to spend more time at a place or skip it. We opted to buy a car big enough so we could install equipment to sleep in it. It makes planning a lot easier!

However, it’s not always simple to find the right place for the night. Or to find public toilets when we need them the most. That’s where some apps can help!

CamperMate is a must-have app if you are making a road trip around Australia or New Zealand. It makes it very easy to find campsites, toilets and many other services you need on the road. Plus, users can leave reviews and tips to help you make the best choice.

While browsing for my road trip apps, I also came across WikiCamp Australia. That’s the one most people recommend, but I haven’t used it. It seems quite similar, but I opted for the free CamperMate as we only travel periodically and have time to plan our trips in advance.

Wikicamps is better if you travel to remote places with no network as it can be accessed offline.
